The trip gets off to a flying start at the famous Playa de los Muertos, a paradise whose name derives from the ancient currents that used to wash the wreckage of shipwrecks up onto its shores. From there, we’ll look up towards the Mesa Roldán Lighthouse, perched atop an impressive volcanic dome; it is one of the tallest lighthouses in Spain and an iconic landmark that has served as a filming location for series such as Game of Thrones.

Continuing southwards, we will explore Cala Arena, where fossilised lava formations create ‘rock cathedrals’ that bear witness to Almería’s volcanic past. Before entering the village, we’ll stop in front of the Cargadero de Mineral, a gem of industrial archaeology that tells the story of the area’s mining history, before crossing Agua Amarga Bay and its iconic white houses.

Once you leave the town centre behind, the landscape becomes even wilder. We’ll pass through Cala del Sol, a spot that’s almost impossible to reach by land, to reach the jewel in the crown: Cala de Enmedio. Here, the pure white fossil sand dunes contrast with the green of the Posidonia oceanica, the plant that oxygenates our waters and keeps them so crystal-clear.

We’ll round off our trip at the spacious Cala del Plomo, a scene of absolute tranquillity with turquoise waters that provides the perfect finale to our journey before we head back to the port.

Amidst tales of pirates, fascinating geology and behind-the-scenes secrets of film shoots, we’ll make strategic stops so you can take a dip and experience the park from the inside.
